Treeline Coffee Roasters
624 N Wallace, Bozeman, MT 59715
Nestled in the Historic Brewery District of NE Bozeman sits a small batch roastery and coffeehouse of multi-sensory delight. My frequent womples between the Midwest and the Pacific NorthWest always include a stop at Treeline and if you are anywhere near (for example: Big Sky or Yellowstone) I fully endorse your own outing to Treeline Coffee Roasters.
Coffee:
With a motto of, Your coffee should fuel you to do the things you love, Treeline is a small-batch, artisan coffee roaster that I love, how’s that for circular logic? My drip was a satisfying and carmely Columbian with notes of raisin. My cortado was a properly done delight. I’ve been here several times and I always leave contented and reluctant not to linger just a little bit longer.
Barista:
Friendly and happy to engage, the culture of pleasant, engaging service is obviously an ethos of clear intent. A knowledge of what they are serving, the grower, the flavor profile, if it holds up to adding milk, all of this is standard fare. One time, I got into a very pleasant convo with the barista who asked me how I liked the book I had on the counter as he had just finished it himself. But if the topic is local beer, outdoor activities, bakeries, art galleries, restaurants, or other Bozeman topics, you’ll find willing engagement with the staff, and to boot, they are all attendant craftsmen at their trade.
Vibe:
Treeline resides in a large quonset hut on the fringe of town in an industrial neighborhood that show signs of being overtaken by specialty retail outlets. Just down Wallace St, on the same block is a fine example, Wild Crumb Artisan Bread & Pastries (a 5 star combo with Treeline). Painted tin panels adorn the bar face and ceiling while exterior walls are covered with a very wide assortment of merch and vertical wood slats. Self described as aficionados of swag, I have to agree. Their merch is some of the best I’ve encountered and certainly the most diverse. You could spend an entire cup of coffee just browsing their many excellent offerings including items from local artisans. The coffee station is a large theater-in-the-round, linking the barista and customer in a joint experience that I found pleasantly intimate and warmly appreciated. They have a pick up station for subscriptions, a roastery in one corner, and a stockroom in back, successfully mingling the retail and production operations. My acoustic experience has always been lovely, usually in the Americana vein. I dig this place and you will too!
Make You Better
It’s a comfortable place to linger but a nook with cushy seating would be a nice add. Otherwise, I’m stuggling… they’re top shelf.
