Morning glass coffee & cafe

A wedding womple to the wonderful state of Hawaii (congrats Zak and Erin) led me to Morning Glass Coffee which was nestled about ten minutes from downtown Honolulu. Worth the drive as the coffee offerings are plentiful, the food outstanding and the scenery oh so sublime.
Coffee:
Love, love, love a shop that identifies the brew you are about to embibe. The Carlos Sergio drip with the same espresso for my red eye was indeed Rich and Chocolatey without being over bearing. Some really powerful pour over choices as well from Coava (Great Portland Oregon Roaster). However, my drip was a perfect cup to linger over after a great morning hike on the South Shore (Koko Crater).
Barista:
The shop is set up in such a way that the baristas are a bit hidden behind a counter. It makes the banter tougher to initiate. Alas, the people taking orders are quite friendly but with the business of the shop there is little time for any conversation.
Vibe:
Maybe it’s that it was surrounded by lush mountains or that everyone was so chill (even with a line consistently above twenty people), but the vibe here is out of this world. Really a place to relax (no wifi) and not only enjoy great coffee, but also enjoy some gustatory ecstasy. Their backed goods are tremendous with sweet and savory items, but save some room for their breakfast food - an incredible breakfast burrito was one of many items that were enticing. It’s one of the few places that I have ever been that I did not care if there was music as the engagement of people and the surroundings was quite enough. A+ on the vibe…..
Make You Better:
It is really hard to offer recommendations on such a fine shop and great womple. I think redesigning so that the baristas are not tucked away coupled with an alternative way to display the merchandise would be nice. However, let’s not bury the lead - a shop that takes its coffee selection seriously and provides the foundation of a great day.
Morning Glass takes their purveying, coffee selection and delivery quite seriously. The full experience of great coffee, wonderful surroundings, laid back vibe and awesome food makes this a MUST when traveling to Honolulu.
