Dancing Goats
3167 Peachtree Rd, Atlanta, GA 30305
With three locations in Atlanta, three stores, a roastery, a training lab, and a tasing room in Olympia WA, a training facility in St. Petersburg FL, as well as additional stores in Decatur GA, and Tacoma WA, and over 30 years of experience, Dancing Goats is a serious coffee brand with plenty of resources. That doesn’t necessarily speak to the coffee experience, but mine was well done and much appreciated. The tip of their spear, their consumer experience, has been finely honed. The name comes from the legend of coffee discovery itself, where a shepherd noticed that his goats were dancing and full of energy after eating red fruit from a nearby shrub, tried some himself, launching the discovery of coffee. Based on my experience, I’m anxious to check out the other Dancing Goats.
Coffee:
The Dancing Goat delivered cortado perfection and my drip was robust, chocolaty, and, in a good way, almost chewy.
Barista:
Folks know they’re gonna get a great coffee here, so, its busy. Unfortunately, my barista experience reminded me of being served at a lunch counter.
Vibe:
Interior space is compelling and imaginative. Merch is very good and extensive. Their display area functions as a two sided, airy divider check full of tempting items. The counters are interesting in shape and how they separate the space. Lighting is well done, music is solid, outdoor space is inviting, bathrooms are first rate. They know what they’re doing and simply put, you will not be disappointed.
Make You Better
Something local would be nice, maybe a featured artist. While everything is top shelf and this store could be dropped anywhere in the country (hey, maybe that’s their intention) there is nothing apparent that ties it to the community and in my book, that’s a miss.
The coffee and the space were top shelf. Dancing Goat is womple worthy and I’m anxious to check out their other stores to see if they serve up any lumps of barista goodness.
