BRASH Coffee Roasters
1168 Howell Mill Rd #0516, Atlanta, GA 30318
“What’s with the #0516?” you say. I’m guessing that’s the sort of address you get when you open a store out of a box. It’s a fancy box. OK, it’s two shipping containers… with picture windows, an accordion door, and all the normal accoutrements a coffee shop… except space. Its a permanent, urban-chic version of a coffee kiosk. They did things well enough that I will make a point of visiting their full-blow, grown-up store in History Center which looks very appealing.
Coffee:
My drip was a Peruvian bean from the Cusco region, the former capital of the Inca empire and the gateway to The Sacred Valley. It was a tasty brew, nutty and caramely, which they describe as plum, date, and toasted pecan. My cortado was well made using an El Salvadorian bean that was a good pairing with steamed milk. Both used a wet processing, a more expensive option that is said to deliver a cleaner, more robust flavor.
Barista:
Efficient but we didn’t have my normal conversation, perhaps a function of my late arrival, just 30 minutes before closing. The work area could have been more organized, but perhaps this was also a function of the hour.
Vibe:
Chic and efficient. Its a tiny house coffee shop, a pick it up and move on out kinda place. It’s a shop where convenience rules. It’s also a well executed, original concept. Kudos, I say!
Make You Better
The work area could have been better kept but I do believe it was likely a function of the proximity to closing time.
BRASH is a unique downtown coffee stop concept that is well done and womple worthy.
