Frothy Monkey

1400 51st Ave N, The Nations, Nashville, TN 37209

Cool space, happening neighborhood, broad menu, full bar, exceptional service… easy to get frothy about this monkey. I’d happily check out any of their other stores in Nashville, Franklin, Chattanooga, Birmingham, or Knoxville

Coffee:

In truth, their cortado presentation won me over. It used their medium roast and the flavor and aroma were well balanced and excellent, made more so by intermittent sips of palette cleansing sparkling water. I had their Brute, Dark Roast for my drip and it was also very good, having lingering flavors of campfire chocolate and nut.

Barista:

I interacted meaningfully with numerous staff who were all super helpful and engaging. The entire story has an attentive eye on detail that is very clearly complimented by a joyful, customer oriented culture. They welcomed and pampered me, enhancing every aspect of my experience that resulted in my staying much longer than I had planned. Lumps of goodness abound.

Vibe:

This repurposed industrial neighborhood has micro breweries, yoga studios, BBQ, and a mural’d grain elevator. Their building abounds in industrial detail with wide divided light windows, well patina’d hardwood floors, tall ceilings, exposed ductwork, sand blasted beams, wide open spaces, and a variety of seating options. They have a full restaurant menu, and a full bar. I had a delicious garden omelet with house made sourdough and everything about my food delivered a message that it was made with care, from bread made on premise, to a listing of local food vendors and farmers. Music was a pleasant volume and a good background go the buzz of activity. Bathrooms were clean, private and surprisingly large.

Make You Better

There’s not much to say here. The space itself is visually engaging but I think more artwork by local artists would be nice.
